Streaming

By on-demand streaming, you can play your media over a LAN or the internet using only a web browser and a player. This player can be embedded in the Jinzora Interface or installed locally on the client you use to visit Jinzora.

Once you've selected the tracks to play, Jinzora creates a playlist and sends it to the player of your choice. The player loads the individual URL's for the tracks and requests the file from Jinzora. Once the request passes authorization, Jinzora streams the file to the player.

Media Transcoding

By on-the-fly transcoding, your media gets converted to another media format or a lower bit rate in real-time. This way, you can manage your bandwidth, stream media that can't be streamed natively or stream to a device that doesn't support the original media format.

The converting of media to another format, is usually referred to as 'Transcoding', whereas the converting to a lower bit rate is mostly called 'Resampling'.

All transcoding is done in memory; files do not have to be pre-converted, no additional disk space is used to store a transcoded copy of the file and the original file stays untouched. For transcoding, a third party application called 'lame' is required.

Jukebox Mode

When your computer is connected to your stereo set or a hardware jukebox device, you can use Jinzora to send your music to that device. Control your stereo or hardware device from any computer in your home or office network using the familiar Jinzora Interface. Jukebox Mode is also used to send a control request to third-party applications, that can be controlled from the Jinzora interface.

Media Management

Jinzora can automatically tag and organize your media collection and download song lyrics, album covers, artist pictures, biographies and reviews to complement it. This is done through the use of free, completely legal services like Musicbrainz and Google Music. You don't even have to register!

Groupware

Jinzoras community features called 'Groupware' allow your users to discuss, rate and comment on media. The Editor's Pick gives you a platform to highlight media and the integrated Audioscrobbler updates your last.fm profile automatically.

Authentication System

The advanced built-in authentication system offers administrators a flexible way to control access for individual users or user groups. Using templates for different user permissions makes administration a breeze.

Other Features

The numerous other features include playlist support for several formats like M3U, ASX and RAM, similar media lists, very powerful search features, multiple interfaces and themes, user and media statistics, logging, RSS feeds, and an open API to access from third-party software. And yet, Jinzora is completely free! Amazing, isn't it?
